(So it doesn’t necessarily need to apply to you.) So now we have a little bit of an opportunity to support us. So for example, have you ever been on stage at a concert? Have you ever been on stage at a concert? Just grab a card, pick one of the two there, and see what happens. So now the change is when you come out here you get to simply pick either the top card… there’s actually two choices on these cards, rather not you flip through the whole thing. So I’m going to put in the centre a “have you ever” set of cards. They might have lost something or with the group you might say you know what, we want to have a little more of a focus and you might load the questions with a deck of cards. There’s times where people come to the centre and they’re stuck. (people changing spots in Have You Ever?) (Have you ever participated in an eating contest?) (Have you ever swimmed in the Southwater pool?) If not, invite someone else into the circle. So if you want to go for it… it’s Ruth, is that right? Did I get it? So if you’re out for sharing a “have you ever”, great. If you’re thinking now is not the time, you might invite someone else in.Īnd there’s a little bit of competitive edge to this getting to a spot in that regard, and at the same time we want to provide choice, in such that you would feel welcome to share or not if it’s not the time. (people changing spots as part of Have You Ever?)Īnd here’s the moment… certainly if you’re in the middle and want to choose that as an opportunity to share something in this “have you ever” format, wonderful. If that’s true for you, go ahead and move. So I’m going to start with the one that I started with which have you ever been white water rafting. If you end up without a spot, you’re in the centre and you’re invited to share something about you in that way, something that you’ve done and something you might be intriguing.Īnd disclaimer a little bit, might be that let’s keep it family rating maybe PG, in that regard, PG-13 maybe, see where we’re at, and think what may be valuable for this group to learn about one another. So this idea, if that is true for you and you’re willing to share that within this group, you’re simply going to move to a new spot. And once I’m in the centre of the room or in the centre of the circle, what I’m going to do is put out a… something that I’ve done, something that’s true for me, so it might be something like, have you ever been white water rafting, or move if you’ve been white water rafting. So go ahead and stand right on your spot where you are. Everyone else is going to start in your spot. What we’re going to do is I’m going to start in the centre here. And I want to engage in a bit of a classic exercise and one that may be familiar and we’ll look at a couple of spins and variations to it, but it’s another way of connecting or getting to know one another in the room.
